We NEED to clear up the ACV trend because why the hell is a vinegar so good for you, you know?
I have been drinking apple cider vinegar every morning for awhile now and I started for one particular reason – acid reflux.
I wondered daily how apple cider vinegar – A VINEGAR – was helping my acid reflux. It made no sense to me. So of course, I went deep into researching because I needed to know more. Acid, alkaline, gut health, pH levels, it can all become a blur.
Here’s what you need to know – when you consume ACV, it becomes alkaline.
And also know that our guts health is better at an alkaline state than it is at an acidic state. That’s another main reason I continued with ACV, bad taste and all. You want to keep your body alkaline so that it isn’t easier for diseases and yeasts to grow. Read more into it here.
Ok so I was researching away and then, just like that, there were a million more benefits to follow! UH-HUH thank you, ACV. The smell at 7am isn’t the best thing in the world, I won’t lie. But the benefits it gives you are beyond. And once you get used to it, which you can, I promise, you’ll be drinking this elixir with less of a cringe on your face every single time (ok, maybe not every single time… but almost).
I have waited to write this post because I wanted to see if it really works, I mean really really works. I wanted to get down and dirty with details and research on why the heck I should be drinking ACV in the first place. There are so many trends going around that I’m up for trying almost anything – but that doesn’t mean they all work for me or you.
SO! Does the ACV trend work?
Yes, 110%. This stuff WORKS. It gets the job g’damn done. It isn’t one of those ‘drink this and you will become better at life’ type of fads. But you really, honestly and truly feel better. Plus it’s super good for you and is known to help with losing weight – some studies have proved this for us.
Let me break it down for you because it’s really easy (or hard) to chug a glass of something ‘good for you’ and call it a day without knowing any details. I’ve been there, I get it. You do whatever that hot celeb tells you to do because standing in freezing cold temperatures in a spa is going to fix all of your problems, you know?
BENEFITS OF DRINKING APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:

+ aids in weight loss – but it will NEVER take the place of eating healthy and exercising
+ because of all the beneficial properties ACV contains, it is known to help you stay healthier, reducing colds and improving gut health (it is great for digestive issues and is even known to help with food poisoning)
+ great for hair treatments and sunburn relief!
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I DRANK ACV?
+ my acid reflux minimized day by day
+ my body felt more awake in the morning
+ my hair became softer and shinier! (I use it as a shampoo/rinse)
+ I felt less hungry in the morning after drinking a glass of water with 3 tbsp of ACV in it
Health and sickness wise – I’m not sure yet. I can never really tell which vitamin or elixir prevented me from sickness because I take a lot, I’m not going to lie. But it definitely wakes me up and curves my hunger cravings first thing in the morning.
I take one glass of water and mix 3 tbsp of ACV into it every single morning, sometimes adding lemon.
Is it worth the eye watering moments? To me, yes absolutely. Does it ever taste better? To me, sometimes ya. Maybe I’m just getting used to it – but I don’t have an issue downing that water every morning anymore.
