It’s freezing out here in Boston – like, the kind of cold where you go get a mani pedi and have to cry walking back to your car because the windburn is so real and you can’t see due to the tears dripping down your face that are practically frozen then you try to run but the wind is stronger than you are so you can’t.
Dramatic? AH. I am horrible at cold weather. I honestly debate going out to dinner sometimes because it’s so g-damn cold. BA and I like to keep the date scene alive and get dinner once a week but I just can’t find the inner strength to stand the Arctic weather we got going on. Pizza and pajamas will have to suffice for some future dates.
Just click on that humidifier and you’ve got yourself a night!
Have you seen the damn humidifier? It was in the newsletter that went out yesterday to subscribers (subscribe here!) because she’s my ride or die right now. Yes, she. I call her my BEAUTY SLEEP MACHINE. She beautifies you as you sleep, clears up your skin, keeps you from waking up all stuffy and dry, warms the air, detoxes your room, helps with allergies and sinuses, BOOM BANG BOOM. How can you NOT want one?
She isn’t just any humidifier, either.
Let me explain.
She is very chic looking, none of that clear plastic shit going on, all white and perfectly shaped and she blasts the air coming out. Like, BLASTS. She isn’t some dull humidifier that’s just tugging along trying to help you breathe better but is barely getting the job done. You can literally feel the air coming out and spritzing into the room. She is not messing around.
A major winter must-have to keep your nose clear and skin shiny!
Alright, let’s talk about skincare routines… shall we?
I recently posted about cold weather skincare for you guys because it’s necessary, right? It’s such a pain in the ass that the weather affects our skin, but it does and I’m doing everything I can to prevent it, and I mean EVERYTHING.
You probably know from snap & insta that I’m obsessed with skincare. I’m constantly reading about it, researching it, finding more tips and tricks to squeeze into my routines, just obsessing. I find it super interesting and beneficial – skin is ALWAYS going to be in. Prevention, prevention!
So I wanted to elaborate a little more and give you my head to toe skincare routine.
Having a routine helps. It’s overwhelming trying to care for your skin when there are so many products and people telling you all different things. Find what you like and stick with it. Make routine out of it. You will do it daily and keep up with it once you see results and get used to it. Trying everything and doing something new daily is going to drive you insane.
I’m going to give you my routine that I stick with, even though I add some different things in here and there, I always do these specific things.
Mix and mingle with it and take is a guide. Find what you like out of it and then stick to that routine for yourself. You’ll be GLOWING.
MY HEAD TO TOE SKINCARE ROUTINE
I drink a glass of water the second I wake up, then all throughout the day. This sounds typical, but it is HUGE in your skincare routine. You are going to find your skin so much easier to maintain when you get into the habit of doing this. Think about it, you’ve been sleeping for 6-8 hours (or however long) and you haven’t had a sip of water throughout that. Your body is thirsty when you wake up even if you don’t feel it! Hydration is key.
I rinse my face with water and apply an aloe vera toner with a towel. It gives your face a cooling feeling and tones out complexion. Aloe vera is amazing for skin and I’m all about toners and preventing my skin from getting dry.
After I do anything with water (washing my hands, face, etc.) I apply a hand cream. ALWAYS. I’m obsessed with Burt’s Bees hand cream. It has this amazing texture that gives your hands a dewy look and keep them feeling super hydrated. It’s small too so you can keep it in your bag and enjoy it allllll day long. You can also use it on areas of your body that are feeling dry, I love putting it up my arms. Lather up!
I use a face steamer about every two weeks or so. First of all, it’s super relaxing and I know stress plays a huge factor in how my skin feels. Your face feels cleaner and more vibrant after using it, especially in the winter.
Here’s some you can take a look at: DR. DENNIS GROSS FACE STEAMER & KINGA FACE STEAMER
Keep coconut oil in your shower. I’m telling you, this is a game changer. I know coconut oil is the most typical thing anyone can say when you ask about skincare – but it’s seriously full of benefits and you can see the results. I shower and then while I’m still in the shower when I’m done I apply coconut oil to my skin. EVERYWHERE. I do this a few times a week – it keeps your entire body glowing and reduces dry areas. If it is in your shower you are more likely to do it.
Add oils to your body. You don’t have to just use jojoba oil as a makeup remover – you can mix and mingle with oils. Don’t be afraid! Add them to your g-damn feet if you want, you know? I add oils everywhere on my body before going to bed a few times a week. It sounds weird but if you get a dry oil you won’t feel sticky and gross – you’ll have this amazing glow in the morning! (Blotting paper is amazing too for on-the-go touch ups!)
Like I said, I make this a routine. I’m constantly drinking water, always applying coconut oil after I stop the shower, always putting cream on my hands, and on and on. I have made it a specific routine so that I can always be helping my complexion problem (it’s real) and make sure I don’t get any areas that are too dry.
What are you guys doing? Happy weekend babies, MUAH
