I KNOW, I KNOW. It’s December. It’s sweater weather times ten. It’s the season where you eat everything and anything, literally.
Which also means it’s holiday party season and I’m all about that. Anything super fun and festive just gets me, plus you can get some pretty epic outfits going on. I am heading to one next weekend and I’m in charge of a couple appetizers and the signature DRINK! (f-YA). So.much.yes.
I’m also all about a signature drink.
Then there is that teeny tiny issue… with the party, comes the bloat.
It’s just a thing.
BUT – good news, I do some major things to look and FEEL good during all the holiday to-do’s. Which means I’m sharing them with you. Duh. I mean, no one wants to be sucking in while they wear the hottest holiday dress. You know
SO! I’ve got you covered, don’t you worry. I’m very much into indulging and er.. not holding back when the time is right? The candy cane drink they’ve got going on with it’s coated rim is just too good to pass up sometimes. So don’t be nervous – no fasting going on over here.
I’m going to break it down into sections with some tips. That’s how real this is getting.
Let’s do it.
This may be annoying to some people – but always have a water between drinks. A couple sips. Whatever you can do. It’s a huge game changer. Your skin, bloaty-ness, hangover, everything. Water, water, water.
And of course, drink water all.day.long leading up to a party! And just in general so you’re always hydrated and feel GOOD.
GREEN JUICE. Drink it the day of an event or party – why? It’s going to LOAD you up with vitamins and antioxidants, plus it will energize you like crazy. I try to drink a green juice daily – so I would recommend hopping on that train for all of the insane benefits. I use this juicer – AMAZING.
After the pretty signature drink that they make look better than I ever will (lol), start making your own. Do some vodka waters with lots of lemon or seltzer water with tequila – just reduce the sugar. Those good looking drinks will totally kill your vibe in the bloating area.
I like to add benefits to my drinks – lemon, cranberries, blueberries, etc. It makes you feel better knowing you’re getting something (kind of) out of it.
Get a spray tan! Always! You will feel lighter, I swear. These things are just God’s gift to women. If you want to just do it at home, I use this one and it’s the best thing ever. Just make sure to use the mitt!!!
Moisturize all the time. This is going to make such a difference on how your skin looks and it will reduce the dry areas making makeup easier to apply. You’ll just feel better, too. Some lotions that I love: L:A BRUKET, Kiehl’s, Jason.
Dermaplaning. YES, shave your face! Do this the morning of a party or event. You’ll see some shit come off your face and it’s.. uh.. amazing. Your skin will be so much smoother and your makeup will go on and look better. They have nifty gadgets like Tweezerman or you can just grab some razors on Amazon (guilty).
Face steaming. It’s dry right now, right? I mean shit – it is dry. Boston doesn’t do my skin any good in the winter so I’m a full-blown psycho about winter skincare (find out more here). Face steaming is HUGE in this whole routine. It’s going to open your pores and really clear your skin up. When you apply serums, oils, etc. after steaming, your skin will absorb it so much better than it would have before. Plus, your skin feels f’ing amazing after. You can find the steamers from Nordstrom or Amazon.
Don’t always follow pictures or Pinterest for outfits. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest. I’m constantly scrolling through there and getting ideas for everything – but sometimes you get an outfit in your head and you’re just stuck with it. You can’t get it out of your mind. Then you try something similar on and it looks like shit. I’ve been there, it’s the worst. Go with what works for YOU. Find things that fit right and flatter all of your goodness!
Stress will break that skin out and bloat that stomach GIRL. Schedule everything and anything! I love my Google Calendar and I also use my notes app that’s already on my phone to just type my daily tasks super easily. Being stressed is the last thing you want to feel good, so chill. Download some organizing apps and call it a day.
Schedule when you will workout – if you don’t, chances are you are not going to workout OR you are going to slack on the workout and not do the full time. This is just from experience, I’m not saying everyone does this, I’m just saying some of us do. Me in particular. I’ll go to the gym without it being scheduled and planned then just rush through so I can get my next task done. Scheduling some good workouts during holiday season will help you A TON.
