Happy Monday? (I know, I know). Did you guys do halloween-y stuff this weekend? I want to know more. TELL. I’m interested in other people for some weird reason – and I opted out of a party this year (sometimes I’m a 70 year old lady, baking style with rosé).
BUT have you seen the most magical cocktail for ALL of the holidays!? It’s amazing – you get the benefits of blueberries (WHAT UP ANTIOXIDANTS) the flavorful La Croix bubbling up and adding zero damn cals (THANK YOU) and the booze from vodka to deal with holidays. You know?
HA jk. Holidays are my jam.
Except it’s currently Saturday night while I write this, at 6PM, on ‘halloween weekend’ and BA and I are making a pumpkin spiced cake with Bailey’s pumpkin spice frosting to test for Thanksgiving. Yes, we are going to be that couple that brings the f’ing homemade decorated cake. Forgive me. And wish us luck, we may need it. He is the actual reason I have frosting on any of my baked goodies though, he has a killer arm for mixing. HA.
Alright, so since I’m holding him hostage with baking tonight, I figured I’d get the scoop on his planning tips – he is going to take over and tell some of his favorite tips for being a bad-ass planner. I’m so unorganized… er… and he is… eh… not. We are the ultimate opposites attract force.
I posted it on Insta this past week that he was going to be featured on KXC with a sly takeover. He has all the ins and outs of planning like a PSYCHO – but it’s a good thing. I’ve learned a lotttt (sigh) from him and his insane planning methods. Which I am VERY grateful for because it comes in hot with blogging… and a ton more, really. I am starting to use his tips more and more without even knowing it? Which is great until he rubs it in that he was right and my un-planning self needed to figure it out.
Can’t win ’em all.
Ok so BA is going to take over – enjoy!
Hi everyone. Really excited to officially help out with the blog. I’ve been working behind the scenes doing what I can for a while but couldn’t stop myself when Krissy said she was doing a blog about planning. It’s my favorite thing (probably because of my OCD) and it actually used to drive Krissy crazy. Planning for the weekend, for workouts, for dinner, for everything. But she finally (I think?) started to see the benefits of how planning can make you more productive and make life a little easier. Down the road I want to do something a bit more in-depth but for today I just wanted to share my 3 quick tips for how to be a successful planner:
+ MAKE A LIST. Writing everything you have to do or want to accomplish on a sticky note, on your phone, or wherever it will stay constantly within your sight. It will un-clutter your head and make sure you don’t forget anything you have to do. More importantly, it will allow you to focus on one thing at a time. Pick one thing on your list and put your time and energy into that task before moving onto the next to-do. You’ll be more efficient this way and stop you from feeling overwhelmed.
+ MENTALLY PREPARE. This one might sound silly but I promise you it can be beneficial. When I played hockey I would always try to visualize my games in my head before I played them – that allowed me to be fully prepared when I was actually in those situations. Now I try to take 10ish minutes at the end of every day to visualize the following day in my mind. By planning out what I want to accomplish in my head it allows me to wake up ready to go. No procrastinating because I already know what I want to do and how I want to do it.
+ HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE. This one is simple – don’t make constant excuses. Obviously, no plan is perfect and sometimes you need to makes changes or be flexible. But if you make a plan you need to stick to it. No shortcuts, no cheating because in the end it will just make things more complicated and not allow you to achieve whatever it was you were planning for in the first place.
These 3 things have always helped me to keep my shit together. And like I said before, eventually I plan on going into more detail on this subject but for now I hope this might benefit some of you too.
What do you guys think!? How’d he do? HA.
Let us know your tips for planning and being super organized – it always helps!
