A quick way to spice up your morning routine with some fruit.. and more fruit.
I know what people say about too much fruit and all the (natural) sugar in it – totally get that – but honestly, I could eat fruit all day long. I have my thoughts on all of that but that’s for a different day. Fruit and veggies all.day.long, PLEASE.
Breakfast is something I never skip – I usually make smoothies but there are some random days where I pack a bowl with fruit and spice it up with some extra ingredients (like apple drizzle, nut butters, or even protein powder – trust me!). Some mornings I just need some sweetness, you know?
I’ve been researching more about eating mostly raw foods and all the different thoughts that people have on different ways of eating. I’m not a huge fan of meat, so I’ve been really researching veganism to get a better feel about it all. I’m not a vegan, but I have been mixing in some vegan ways to try it out, and I do have to say that deleting dairy has made a difference.
I have horrible allergies, so making sure my diet is on point is huge for me. I am a huge believer in the whole ‘what you eat affects basically everything’ deal. Skin, allergies, getting sick more often, hair, mood, everything. I really really believe in that, but the research is still going on for me. Food and ways of eating (I don’t do diets) can be difficult things to just pick up and start changing, and I think it’s important to find what works best for your own body. Trial and error. I have read the moon juice cookbook which really opened my eyes to allergies and ways of eating – huge fan!
Ok so with that, I eat fruit bowls a lot. I love them for breakfast or as a snack, and my fruit bowls are packed to the rim. I don’t count my calories or measure the amount of fruit I’m eating, but that is only because that is what works for me. There are obviously different things some people have to do for whatever they are trying to achieve!
Easy ways to spice up fruit bowls:
Heat up some nut butter and drizzle it on top – cashew and almond are my favorite!
Add some protein powder – I usually will add the protein powder to the warmed up nut butter to make it mix well. Even add some power dust to start the day off right!
Add a drizzle – I got maple apple drizzle at a farmers market and it’s delicious! I add it when the fruit bowl is for a snack or a dessert – really spices it up! You can add honey or 100% maple syrup as well!
Add spices – I love adding cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Just shake over the fruit! FALL, YA’LL.
Favorite fruit bowl combos:
Apple, banana, apple drizzle, cinnamon
Mango, blueberries, strawberries and 100% maple syrup (dessert!)
Mango and blackberries with honey
Banana and pear with pumpkin pie spice
